“Despite”

Someone wrote…

I was wearing a “girl” shirt and “guy” pants and facing the back of the art room during my lunchtime. Two boys in that class spent ten minutes arguing about my gender, and I finally turned around, revealing my chest, once they decided that “despite” my long hair, I was a “boy.” I pretended I hadn’t noticed, walked to the hallway, and laughed my head off.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?
