Reminds me of a glossary entry defining heterosexuality as: “A nominal norm of sexual orientation and lifestyle in some societies that is considered to be so fragile by many of its practitioners that even a slight exposure to any alternative may result in it being immediately and permanently abandoned.”
Or HL Mencken’s line about his job (journalist) being to “comfort the afflicted and to afflict the comfortable.”
This job description may apply to many poets, too.
