Could never get used to…

Someone wrote…

I could never get used to being called sir, it would always grate on me. When people started to call me ma’am, it was easy for me to get used to and accept.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

Both grate on me. Sir feels like a lie, but Ma’am doesn’t feels like it’s been sewn correctly.

I always used to look around for who they were talking to. Sir or Ma’am was an older, more substantial person, not just me.

I would kill for a gender-neutral respectful title that doesn’t sound ridiculous.
