    Christopher Isherwood was a really interesting person. The Berlin diaries Chris wrote were the basis for Cabaret the play/film. He liked some parts of pre-war Berlin – the experiment, the crazyness, the extremes, some of them, but then came the Nazis and it all became paranoia and conformity. Very sad on so many levels. From a vision of freedom and heaven, came hell.
