Not male.

Someone wrote…

I am not male. I am a human with a penis.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

I can so empathize with this. I am a person. Beyond that, I am lots of things, being male or female is way, way down the list. I am not defined by my anatomy. I refuse to conform to traits based on labels, especially labels applied to me by other people.

You and me both. Isn’t it kind of sad how something like that “has to mean something” about us? I mean, if we all got to choose who got what bitties when they came into this world, who wouldn’t have picked something with not even a hint of a resemblance to real-world human genitalia? (and I don’t mean the real-world spectrum of “ambiguous genitalia”–I mean something like tentacles).

I don’t know if having a penis makes me less of a woman, but I sure as hell know it didn’t make me any more of a man.

So much of what I want people to understand reads exactly like this.
