Recommendation: Scissor Sisters

A reader recommends…

The Scissor Sisters are wild. XD

They have a throbbing pop/electric sound and are often compared to Elton John — the singer has a great falsetto.

A lot of their videos and songs deal very loosely and creatively with gender and style.

I adore this band, and thought I’d share!

ooooh I COULD THROW YOU IN A LAKE
AND FEED YOU POISON BIRTHDAY CAKE
I WON’T DENY I’M GONNA MISS YOU WHEN YOU’RE GONE
OH I COULD BURY YOU ALIVE
BUT YOU MIGHT CRAWL OUT WITH A KNIFE
AND KILL ME WHEN I’M SLEEPING – THAT’S WHY
I CAN’T DECIDE WHETHER YOU SHOULD LIVE OR DIE
OH YOU’D PROBABLY GO TO HEAVEN PLEASE DON’T HANG YOUR HEAD AND CRY
I WONDER WHY MY HEART FEELS DEAD INSIDE
IT’S COLD AND HARD AND PETRIFIED
LOCK THE DOORS AND CLOSE THE BLINDS WE’RE GOING FOR A RIDE!

    :D

I Can’t Decide is one of my favorite songs.

Basically everything they do is awesome, and there’s so many different types of people in the band in terms of gay straight etc….

Also The Master sings them in Doctor Who.

    Hey, Doctor Who talk! :D

I like the Scissor Sisters and the way they deal with gender and sexuality. But when it comes to being wild about it, they’re got nothing on Electric Six.

Oh, Doctor Who. So full of homoerotic tensions and deeply attractive actors and deeply attractive actors having homoerotic tensions. Does anyone else agree that the Doctor and the Master are totally doing it? BECAUSE THE ARE DON’T LIE IT ARE TRUFAX.

“We’re the last of our species!”
“Are you asking me out on a date?”

Also HOW DAMN SHIPPY WAS THE END OF TIME. I mean. They smell each other. And then they do that forehead-press. AND PUT EACH OTHER IN BONDAGE CHAIRS.

I am such an all-opportunity non-discriminatory the-Doctor-obviously-loves-everyone shipper that ship wars just…puzzle me, but DOCTOR/MASTER IS LIKE MY LIFE. Who else has the Doctor had fifty years of subtext with in like ten different media and uncountable actors? Except Crispy!Master. We are not counting half-dead zombified fried Master-on-a-stick. He’d like…flake apart.

On the note of devArt things –

Somehow, I never thought that I’d see Doctor/Master stuff on Genderfork. …And I like it.

And uh, the Scissor Sisters are fantastic.
