Recommendation: The Origin of Love
A recommends…
Just take a listen to the lyrics. It describes three sexes — the children of the sun (“that looked like two men glued up back to back”), the children of the earth (“looked like two girls rolled up in one”), and the children of the moon (“they was part sun, part Earth, part daughter, part son”). It’s something of a sad song, but so beautiful.

This is a pretty cool myth. If anybody is interested in the whole thing, you can read it in “Symposium” by Plato.

I just watched this film and was thinking that this song or the movie itself needed to be recommended here.

This is one of my favourite songs ever. It’s so damn beautiful. <3 The film is also amazing. And so is the rest of the soundtrack, which I was listening to when I saw this was posted on here. Freaky! Bah, I love this film and song so much! <3

This is basically the Speech of Aristophanes out of Plato’s Symposium. Pretty sweet.

John Cameron Mitchell is a God among men (and women)!
I saw this movie as a confused teenager and it still holds it’s place on my top ten films of all time list.
