There was a time when anyone with artistic pretensions was using a twin lens reflex camera, like a Mamiya C330. Hasselblad was way out of most people’s reach and 4×5 was extremely cool but a bit too difficult and fiddly for any but the most pretentious. Then some really talented people started making really awesome pictures with a lowly Pentax (then Honeywell-Pentax) and attitudes gradually changed. The Nilon F happened and the Canon F-1. The rest is history.
It would be so cool if the genderosity of things followed the same course, from a twin lens of male and female to a single lens that reflects us all.
Or is my metaphor too pompous.
