A Vicious Logic Puzzle
Someone wrote…
When I’m asked about my gender or sexuality it’s like being given a vicious logic puzzle.
What’s your experience?

Ugg, I try to give generic answers that imply “don’t ask me that!”

I mostly just state truths as I find them…I feel like I have an intuitive understanding of my gender…It’s everyone else who’s solving the logic puzzle when they ask me, because I just throw it back to them. Why should I have to define myself in a stereotypical way? I’m never mean about it, but functionally, there’s only so much people need to know about my gender…I just let them get to know me over time.

the other day I was filling out paperwork at school and stared at the “gender” question for about 10 minutes. Do they want the gender assigned to me? do they want the gender I identify as? The two ladies I had already spoken to had called me “she” and I hadn’t corrected them, so it seemed weird to suddenly check the “male” box on the form.
Society is always progressing and in the future this kind of stuff probably won’t matter, but I really don’t have the patience to wait 20 years for society to catch up to my gender identity, but I’m also not assertive enough to correct people.
