Just in case you missed her in high school, check out this English singer-songwriter with amazing vocal talents. When she was 19 she won a national TV talent contest (in the U.K. that is). For a butch, out-lesbian in the early 2000s this was quite a statement.

Random fact: She went to the same primary school as me. And she’s given speeches at my secondary school before. She always says really inspirational stuff. :)

I’m the same age as her, and I remember when she became big – it was so great to see someone who looked kind of like me back then. she was tremendously shy as well, which was very cute, and she’s got a great voice as well!

What is Alex doing now? I bought both her albums when she was recording after winning Fame Academy. She is hugely talented and I loved her energy and genuineness. Hope she is still making music somewhere even if she has disappeared out of the limelight.
