A Visible Reminder

Someone wrote…

I hope to be a visible reminder that “girl” does not necessarily mean “girly”.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

When i was a girl, girl meant me.
When i was girly, girly is what i did.
When you call me a girl, i’m not
And I’m never girly in reaction to what you do.
I am not a reaction to the world
I am myself in the world
And when the world reacts to me
I accept it, i fight it, i succumb to it
I hate it, i revel in it
    I change it daily.
