Given the Choice

Someone wrote…

People try to be polite and not comment on my binder; but given the choice, I’d rather they talked awkwardly about my binder than ignoring my gender completely.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

Ditto. With everything gender-related in my life at the moment. I’ve told people to ask questions if they need/want to, but so far, nothing. I’m trying to give them time, but boy do I know how you feel. (Gender-related pun not intended…)

oh geez, YES. my family’s been pretending that nothing ever happened since I came out, and they’ve kept up with the ‘she’ business despite multiple polite requests. bluh. I would LOVE awkward questions/comments!

Yep, same here. I’d rather (and gladly!) answer questions that people have than pretend my identity doesn’t exist. Because really, how can you pretend that another human being doesn’t exist?
