My clothes

Someone wrote…

I like to wear dresses and make-up. I don’t really consider it drag. For me it is just me expressing myself in a way that isn’t considered normal. Why be normal? I like being different and unique, its more fun anyway. I’m not crossdressing when you see me in skirts and makeup. I’m not wearing women’s clothes. I’m wearing my clothes, thank you very much.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

I feel a little like I’m wearing drag all the time…I’ve begun to jokingly think about it as “adjacent dressing”…as opposed to cross dressing. It’s all very complicated. All of the definitions and labels sort of bleed together into this multi-hued slurry of experience. I love using precise labels to organize thoughts and experiences and to relate to people, but at the end of the day, sometimes I just like letting it all just kind of be. As you say, it’s just something a little different. I’m just expressing me.
