“I never really know what to wear. Should I be girl pretty? Or guy handsome? Should I be in the middle? Or should I just stop pretending gender is a scale from boy to girl?”

stop pretending gender is a scale from girl to boy!

then we can be queerly masculine, fiercely femme, soft butch, hipster, glam, stud, anything!

“Hipster” is not a sexual orientation nor a gender expression, it’s what’s “in” fashion at the moment.

I love that last line. I finally stopped pretending I was “in between,” and its been the most liberating experience. I agree fully with radical/rebel.

How LUCKY to be able to have the choice to be “girl pretty? Or guy handsome? ” And presumably, anything in between.

There’s a fine balance between being positive about gender variant expression and promoting unattainable standards of beauty.

I can’t say I really care either way – I’m just wondering where all the people are in my life who can make me catch my breath like you just did.
