Worst

Someone wrote…

I don’t know which is worst: someone only seeing my gender, someone completely ignoring it, or someone condemning it. Actually, I do know. They all suck. I’m never gonna have a life free from this, am I?

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

I can relate. I think the only way we and folks in similar situations is to try and be equanimous. It ain’t easy, that’s for sure, but it’s been a worthwhile pursuit for me.

Maybe we won’t ever be completely free from it but I’ve found that by surrounding myself with open, kind, loving people, it becomes a lot easier. When you’re surrounded by people who see you as you truly are, the people who misjudge you don’t matter as much because you’re buffered by love. And keep in mind: many people misjudge because they don’t know any better. If they’re open to being taught (while it can be tiring to teach everyone), try and be patient with them.
