gender bound and pretty

Submitted by medina cardona, the artist.

“medina cardona is a genderqueer, Taino, artist with a disability, whose work focuses on the politics of race and gender. The two panels, “pretty” and “gender bound”, are 60″ x 48″ oil on canvas, done in black and white hues, representing society’s black and white binary of gender and gender role expectations, with a white wash background representing transgendered individuals who often face discrimination even within the LGBT community, and bordered in red to represent the loss of lives of transgender people due to violence.”
