Pronouns

Someone wrote…

I want to be able to tell people not to call me “she”, but I don’t think “he” is quite right either and there aren’t any gender-neutral pronouns I like.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

Yep, same here. On the Internet I settle for ‘it’ and ‘they.’ Real life, I just… dunno.

Yeah. I know what you mean. Maybe try just avoiding pronouns? It’s a little difficult, but doable.

If your name or nickname isn’t very long, pronouns aren’t really necessary for anything.

I hear ya. I tend to go by she at work because that’s how I get read most of the time and I don’t have the emotional energy to invest in constantly correcting people (and also, because I don’t know what I’d replace “she” with that felt better). I don’t like She. However, He doesn’t feel more right, and they/ze/whatever just isn’t practical for day to day life.
