The first time out loud

Someone wrote…

I’m trying to figure out my relationship to gender. I’m biologically female and reasonably comfortable with that. I don’t necessarily think of myself as female, though.

Sometimes I think of myself as male, sometimes female, sometimes without any gender attached. So genderqueer comes the closest to expressing my gender. I’ve had my personality described as a masculine woman and I’m attracted to people who are on the androgynous side of their expressed gender.

This is the first time I’ve said this anywhere.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

It’s awesome that you are feeling comfortable enough to tell someone anything at all about yourself and your feelings. Saying so here will make it a lot easier to say in your everyday life. Get your practice in. We will support you ’til you can stand on your own and after should you need it.

    Thanks for sharing!

I always thought of myself as really feminine until I realized that that just wasn’t who I was. I turned to the internet years before ever “coming out” as gender-different to my family/friends/school. The internet can be really helpful, though I wish I had found genderfork when I was just realizing my identity. You’ve landed in the right place!
