Blend in

Someone wrote…

I want to blend in. I don’t want to draw attention to myself by labelling myself or having to “come out” to people as un-gendered. Being called “he” hurts, though. It feels like I’m being forced into something I’m not.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

I hear you. I’m not especially trying to blend in, because I don’t think I could, but I try not to bring up my gender identity because I don’t think it’s everyone’s business.

I don’t correct any pronouns or such, but every time people speak about me as a man or a woman, I feel kind of disappointed with their assumptions, even though I know they don’t mean any harm.
