Instinctive Compassion

Someone wrote…

I saw someone today who I learned is transgender. It was the first time I saw this and I smiled as a first reaction. Part of it was I was surprised and because her beauty (that I failed to recognize) looked different.
I am sorry I did that and wish my instinctive reaction had been compassionate.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?
