Profile: Im

You can call me… Im

I identify as… agender, pansexual, queer, atheist, budding anarchist, general skeptic, aspiring lifelong learner, disabled (chronic mental illness).

As far as third-person pronouns go, … my pronouns are “they”/”them,” but no one uses these except my partner, because I haven’t found the guts to really ask anyone else.

I’m attracted to… potentially anyone, gender- and sex-wise. I’m drawn in by empathy, open-mindedness, curiosity, humor that doesn’t marginalize (satire aimed at deserving people & institutions is excellent), uncommon honesty, and everyday courage (calling people out on saying/doing awful things, challenging the status quo).

When people talk about me, I want them to… respect my real name and pronouns, and stop using unnecessarily gendered language.

I want people to understand… the distinctions among sex, gender presentation, gender identity, sexuality, etc. And, on an unrelated note, I wish people could get a glimpse of how difficult it is to live with mental illness each day and still present a (semi-)brave face to the world.

About Im
I’m 25, live in the Midwest US, work at a library, and studied Linguistics & Spanish at university. No idea yet what I’ll be or do when I grow up. I hope to get out of this area sooner than later. Perpetually disorganized and tardy, often daydreaming, always anxious. Bleeding heart. I wish I were better at voicing my real thoughts.
