I’ve admired Zhang Jigna’s (see also http://zemotion.deviantart.com/) photography for a long time. And I was especially taken by these shots of Daniel Landroche. The blog post has a (brief) interesting bit of commentary on different people’s conception of beauty. These photographs in particular stand out to me for capturing a kind of elegance we don’t often see associated with male beauty. These aren’t the images of stereotypical male strength or of dominance that most frequently make up our images of men.

Lashings of Ginger Beer Time describe themselves as a Radical Queer Feminist Collective, who present songs, comedy, sketches and satire in the form of a classic Burlesque act. They’ve recently performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, with a 4 star review from the Scotsman calling them the best Burlesque act there, and another 4 star from Scotsgay.
If you’re looking for a group that will mercilessly deconstruct the gender binary, discuss feminism’s modern role in gender equality, have a comedy act dedicated to discussing being trans, love a bit of kink, and accept everyone from straight, kinky, vanilla, asexual, queer, poly, or well…everyone, then these are the group for you!

Hey,
My name is Elle and I’m a genderqueer photographer and curator from Baltimore, Md.
I’m working on a project to photograph people who self identify as gender queer. As a curator, I haven’t seen enough work that represents this part of the queer population, and as an artist, I’m compelled to do something about that. I’m looking for anyone who is willing to participate, whether through sitting for a portrait or by telling their personal story, or both. I’m planning a couple of trips to meet as many people as possible the first is centered around the east coast mid-atlantic region, NY city, and Los Angeles, and the second is going to be across the country. So if you’d like to get involved, or even would just like to talk, I’d LOVE to talk to you, so email me. Thank you!!

This is a fantastic comic-zine which goes over a summary of patriarchy, feminism, anarchy, and how they all interact. It’s funny, poignant, and bitingly witty. Also fantastic use of the term “jerk.” The comic is followed up by a discussion of ideas, which is well researched and laid out.

Wow — a genderplay-friendly kids’ coloring book! I am impressed. And even if you’re not interested in buying it, you gotta admit that the cover is pretty sweet. I hope we one day live in a world where every child can be exposed to materials like this.

Mr. Richmond’s paintings are sensitive, controversial, & beautiful. Even if they didn’t deal with gender variance & homosexuality, they are lovely enough that I’d still want them in my home. My favorites are Room With A View (above) & The Cher Within. His paintings are available for purchase in his Etsy shop.

Amanda Morgan tries on different types of masculinity to explore the performativity of maleness. I liked seeing how Amanda looks like an entirely different person in each picture. I also enjoyed how this series shows many ways of “being a man.”
