Recommendation: 1972 at&t bell advert
an ad for their first female installer
When gender boundaries were being busted down, and androgyny was rampant and acceptable. Conversely there is also an ad for the first male operator who resembles ashton kutcher.
at&t wants girls that can climb and boys that can talk on the phone for hours

OK, I’ve got to tell mt Ma Bell story.
About the time this ad was current, some feminist person as AT&T brought up the very strenuous objection to the term “Manhole” as in “Manhole cover.”
Some wit in the executive suite put out a Memo (there was no email back then) to the effect that “manhole” would be a depreciated term and henceforward it would be referred to by the more accurate description of “common underground network terminus.”
Since there is no term in the bell system not referred to by its acronym you can see why they’re still known as manholes.

What a smashing ad! Coincidentally, 1972 is my lucky year. I’m always finding more good things related to it.

reading the story behind the link to the male operator — which is great — makes me satisfied with my initial doubt: “there’s no way that woman installer would wear a delicate, light-colored sweater like that to do her job every day! that must have been put on for the photo shoot….”
