Recommendation: “What A Good Boy” by Barenaked Ladies

elfstar recommends…

A powerful song about a young person struggling to deal with society’s expectations, particularly those involving gender roles. I especially like that it doesn’t specify the genders of the protagonist or hir friend – only that they were called boy and girl at birth.

As a canadian and music snob, I agree…and have often listened to the song and wondered if anyone would call me a good boy.

You should have linked ot the music video, there’s even more trans hints. Flashes really; a guy pulling his coat open and seeing a sports bra for a split second, a dress in the little boys closet, and the woman in the background is…. I dunno you dont get a good look at her.
