Boxes.

It’s horrible to put someone in a box. Let them choose.
If you have a choice, do you still choose a box? Or do you choose no box?

i think “box” is not necessarily an adequate word when referring to people who DO happen to fit within a paradigm. people for whom that paradigm is both comfortable and appropriate, that is. like, the existence of a solid identity-box isn’t the problem per se, y’know? if it’s comfy for someone, that’s awesome. what’s the matter is that people are being coerced into those boxes when they’d really fit better somewhere else.

yeah, it’s the ‘put into’ rather than the box.

“Put into” is more problem than the box, but another problem is the assumption that outside the two boxes is vacuum. If there are just the two, then being allowed to choose between is hardly freedom.
