A bunch of people.

Someone wrote…

The pronoun ”they” makes me feel like I’m a bunch of people. I kind of like it.

But it matters to me…

Someone wrote…

I told my mother I don’t know what I am anymore. She said she’ll love me all the same, so it doesn’t matter.

But it matters to me, and I don’t have anyone to talk to.

I feel framed.

Someone wrote…

Remember those detective stories where an innocent man is framed flawlessly?
Everyone has their own theory about what my transness “means”; emotional dysfunction, projected father issues, something that can be explained in clinical terms.

I feel framed. I can’t prove them wrong, all I can do is ask them to have faith in me.
Sometimes I feel like they’ve already decided, and I’m already convicted.

Gender mood swings.

Someone wrote…

Does anyone else have days where they wake up feeling one gender and switch halfway through? I don’t even know how to begin explaining my gender mood swings to the people around me.

Schrödinger’s Gender.

Someone wrote…

Schrödinger’s Gender:

I exist in a superposition of gender; it is only by interaction with an outside observer that I settle into some semblance of male or female.

Don’t really have a sexual orientation.

Chökhor wrote…

I’m finding out about myself that I don’t really have a sexual orientation, but a gender orientation. In terms of sexual orientation it seems I’m bisexual, but that is an incomplete description. It is more appropriate to say that I am attracted to femininity regardless of the person’s sex.

The more I dislike…

Someone wrote…

I’ve rarely felt at all uncomfortable with my body, but the older I get, the more I dislike my speaking voice.

Gender as a rubber band.

Someone wrote…

I’ve started thinking of gender as a rubber band, it has no real sides, is stretchable, and can come in any size or colour.

I feel so beaten down.

Vanessa wrote…

I feel so beaten down when people tell me that because I was born with a penis, I will never be a woman. I never asked to be born this way, and the happiest moments of my life have been when I am treated like a woman. Sometimes I wish I could go somewhere in which things like this didn’t matter, and be appreciated for who I am inside.

When you are ready.

Someone wrote…

Gender has always been a clear cut thing for me being raised in a family and community that said you are born a girl or a boy. At age twenty-two I’m really starting to question who I am, which seems pretty late. I don’t think I’ve been embracing my gender and I wonder if that’s why I feel so unbalanced. I think gender isn’t something that should be chosen for you. You should choose it yourself when you are ready.

Even if…

Someone wrote…

I’m facing the reality that even if your friends are accepting, and you know that gender ambiguity should be fine, it’s your partner’s opinion that can turn your life upside down.

Someone wrote…

I don’t hate it, really, but my body and I have different levels of enthusiasm about this “gender” thing.

Not enough.

Someone wrote…

I’m worried that I’m always single because I’m not enough of a girl to be anyone’s girlfriend, but not enough of a boy to be anyone’s boyfriend.

Definitions of normal.

Someone wrote…

I just wish other people would expand their definitions of normal. Or throw them away completely. They can be so hurtful…

Ruin my soul.

Someone wrote…

People are always telling me that being transgender means undergoing procedures that will “ruin” my body. Which isn’t a very nice thing to say.

I feel like telling them that if my body doesn’t start matching my mind, it’s going to ruin my soul.
