Gender-wow!

Someone wrote…

I’m going to quit identifying as gender-queer and start identifying as gender-wow!

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

Profile: Dylan

Dylan

You can call me… Dylan

I identify as… Not sure. Right now, boy.

As far as third-person pronouns go, … Anything. I get butterflies when people use male pronouns though. Especially ‘bro’. That’s a personal favorite.

I’m attracted to… Girls. Femme girls preferably.

When people talk about me, I want them to… Not think twice about my gender. Just Dylan. Sarcastic, jackass, lazy, unmotivated, funny Dylan.

I want people to understand… I am me. Real boy, fake girl, half and half leaning towards the boyish man I’ll never be. Within the next couple years, I hope to finally be comfortable in my own skin. I’ll never deny that I was born a girl and I’ll always be part girl. That doesn’t mean I have to stay that way. I’m sick of fighting myself in my head. It’s time for change.

About Dylan
I’m an 18 year old boygirl with no direction and no motivation for anything. Buying a ferret and naming it Barbara Walters is probably my biggest goal right now. I enjoy The Barefoot Contessa, boxer briefs, and gatorade juice boxes. Feel free to stalk me and/or say Hi at myspace.com/roflamingo

I think I knew that deep down…

Someone wrote…

I found out that I was genderqueer the night before last. I had been considering it for a while now, going in-between states of maybe-I-am and maybe-I’m-not. But now, in full-blown glory, I spoke to a dear friend about it. And she said something that I will always remember: “You are free to express yourself in any way you see fit, and no one should hold you back from that.” And I think I knew that deep down already, but being able to really hear it in conversation changed everything for me. I feel free.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?

Profile: Mirabelle

You can call me… Mirabelle

I identify as… Something! All I know is that I like wearing skirts, and doing my makeup. What the heck am I really is an enigma, so let’s not get crazy with that. I’m also a huge dork.

As far as third-person pronouns go, … I get “he” and “him” because I have to wear a stupid uniform at school. I really want “she” and her” though….

I’m attracted to… Beautiful, intelligent, courageous people. It doesn’t matter what they were born as

When people talk about me, I want them to… Disregard all thought of applying convention to me.

I want people to understand… It’s okay to tell this here “gender binary” where to shove it.

About Mirabelle
Howdy y’all, I come from Texas. I go to a Catholic high school, the teachers there are lovingly accepting, but some students would maul me if I wore the pretty skirts the “born as” girls get. I’m a dork who loves Discworld books and history.

Profile: Gray

You can call me… Gray

I identify as… I don’t really. A girl taking advantage of being in a boy’s body.

As far as third-person pronouns go, … Nothing is proper, but I won’t get offended.

I’m attracted to… Pretty people and open minds.

When people talk about me, I want them to… Speak louder. More should hear.

I want people to understand… Some things aren’t as easy as
they look. They’re battle marks and everybody fights.

About Gray
I’m kind of like an echo.
I buy Wonka bars and look for golden tickets. I like scenic views and pretty things.
I love the forest and city skylines. I’m a dreamer and spend most of my time in the clouds. I love netbooks, throw pillows, and stuffed animals.
I’ve never knocked over a liquor store and I speed in school zones.
I listen to the sound of rain from open windows.
I put my messages in bottles and hope that they’ll be found.

Profile: Ian

You can call me… almost anything, but I get called Ian, Beastie or Hobbledehoy most often.

I identify as… mad, a geek, a fag, a fanboy, a spaz, an icon, a self-made man, a poet, a film lover, chaotic neutral, a heathen, a stray, a Slytherin, a loser, a pervert, a libertine, a punk, a dandy, an intellectual, a rationalist, a spiritual being, a bohemian, a vagabond, a polyamorist, a queer, a feminist, a Thelemite, a writer, hypersane.

As far as third-person pronouns go, … I like the male ones, and find the inanimate object ones endearing in certain circumstances.

I’m attracted to… people who remind me of who I am, people who remind me of who I’d like to be, people who like the same shit as me so we can carry on ridiculously long geeky intellectualized adorably lame conversations, people who intrigue and challenge me, people who take the time to understand my crazy, people who believe wholeheartedly in free love and sacred sexuality, people who write, people who read, people who spend more time talking about a movie than it takes to watch it, people as socially awkward and sexually complicated as I am, people with more talents than I have, people with more quirks but less crazy than I have, people too interesting to get bored.

When people talk about me, I want them to… go into great detail, and say it to my face.

I want people to understand… life, the universe, and everything.

About Ian
I’m a lot of things, but the most currently relevant of those are early admission college student and rising super senior, film major with writing and acting emphasis, and aspiring author/screenwriter/director.

I just want to be me.

enigma wrote…

Being male bodied, six foot seven inches tall, with a female mind, spirit and sexuality, it would be easier to exist in a world without the concept of gender. I don’t want to choose a gender, I just want to be me.

What’s your experience?

And what are you thinking about gender right now?
