submitted by Izzy, the photographer.
From the Photographer:
I did a photo series called Gender Outlaws a few weeks ago. The series primarily explored how body language and appearance choices and sex communicated gender (pro tip: only the first one really counts), but also touched on issues of what types of body language we associate with which genders, (like passivity and aggression), how race can play into the power dynamics, and lots of other things.

“Today, I feel beautiful” submitted by Sarah-Sophia, the model and photographer.
“I finally got a haircut to represent who I am: a genderqueer.
For the first time, I can call myself beautiful and mean it.”

“Color Me Love” submitted by Nny, the model and photographer.
“I’m a poly femme who sometimes gets called “Sir,” depending on what side of me my interlocutor is standing. I’m just starting to experiment with blurring gender boundaries. To me it’s all good. It’s all love. I took [this] especially for you, Genderfork! <3″

“Lost Boy” submitted by Robert Harper, the model and photographer.
“I feel like a little boy compared to the men around me. Even with (fake) facial hair, I feel like a kid playing dress-up. Not sure if I’ll ever grow up.”

“Rediscovery” submitted by Danielle, the model and photographer.
“I just cut all of my hair off the other day. It was originally down to my shoulders. Being bisexual i wanted to become something different. I keep on feeling like this person who doesn’t know what she wants. Cutting my hair was a really big step for me because this is one of my first steps to becoming something new and discovering the other side to my sexuality. I know it really doesn’t matter how long your hair is or how you dress that defines that, but now i feel like me, i feel good.”

“I am Manic” submitted by Jenifa, the model and photographer.
“Basically I feel like I have no gender. This is a photo of what is inside, I am not truly a man, yet I do not feel like a woman.
The ‘I Am Manic’ has many meanings , on one level it’s a ‘so I’m crazy in your eyes, so what.’ statement to those who would judge me in this photo. On another level it is ‘manic’ as in ‘Manic Depression’. “are you a boy or a girl?” “I am an artist.””

“Trying New Things” submitted by CC, the model and photographer.
“As of right now, I’m a cisgender female who’s interested in acting as an ally to those rebelling against the gender binary. However, I’m also a feminist who’s really interested in the idea of gender as performance. Out of curiosity, I may have nicked my dad’s dress shirt/suspenders from his closet to try drag for the first time… there were a lot of other photos, but these three were the ones that I felt kind of encompassed what I was trying to explore…. this is just for you, genderfork! I love you & everything you do!”

“Boy” submitted by Zee, the model and photographer.
“I took this photo of myself on my 27th birthday at 3 or 4 in the morning. at the time i had a very asymmetrical haircut, so the hair on other side of my head was quite long. my grandmother called it the “bisexual haircut,” because if you saw me from one side i looked like a girl, and from the other like a boy.”
